Hannah is passionate about helping create a world where everyone has opportunities to live a fulfilling, healthy and happy life. Affordable housing is an essential first step, but people also need each other. Housing communities (or villages) allow people with similar experiences to connect and form a sort of surrogate family. Community First! Village in Austin Texas has been a great source of inspiration for creating Blossom Village, and their website provides a key insight; “we’ve learned that the single greatest cause of homelessness is a profound, catastrophic loss of family.” (Quote taken from https://mlf.org/us). Hannah has found that to be true with many of the people she’s met on the streets as well. We need to be there for each other now more than ever. We need to be the safety net for each other, and trust that the universe will sort everything else out.
Some people think Hannah is taking too much risk hanging out with homeless people but she insists that she only goes where her heart calls her to go and it has never led her to danger. She is striving to live every day motivated by love; not fear.
Hannah is a mechanical engineer who has 15 years experience in HVAC and plumbing design for commercial buildings. As a designer, she has had the opportunity to work with architects, engineers, contractors and others in the commercial building industry. This experience has given her some insight into what it takes to get a project permitted and constructed, however, it will take a diverse team of volunteers with a variety of wisdom and skills to create Blossom Village.
One of Hannah’s strengths is that she is very determined and will keep taking steps forward no matter what obstacles may arise. She also believes truly that this is her life purpose and that the universe supports her efforts to help create peaceful, healthy and equitable societies that work towards living in harmony with the earth and with each other. Over the years Hannah has given whatever she could to people living on the streets, whether it was food, coffee, clothes, shoes, blankets, cash, hugs, or simply words of encouragement. That was what her heart called her to do, but now it’s calling her to make a bigger difference in people’s lives by providing permanent housing.
